Mexico Auckland Central reviewed by Kylie B.
There's a new menu at Mexico and so naturally when we had a friend visiting from Australia we decided to dive right in. There's so many fresh, delicious flavours, the girls and I ordered most of the menu so we could try each other's dishes and the stand-out for me had to be the cos salad. Half a cos heart, smothered in avo, spicy salsa and black beans and topped with an egg and some crispy bacon, it was a distinctly Mexican version of one of my salad faves - a Caesar. And a friend's eggplant speciality wis also definitely worth writing about. Luckily their incredible fried (free-range, of course!) chicken still has its rightful place on the menu and it was all washed down with a whole lotta jugs of their delectable and divine black plum margarita. Plus the Auckland Central joint has just been closed for a refurbishment and only re-opened again yesterday. The perfect time to go and celebrate three years of Mexico bringing the flavours of South America to the City of Sails.

Love ceviche? Maldito Mendez isn’t Mexican but South American, and man they do fish well. Their spicy ceviche with pomegranate seds is a total fav, as is the watermelon amd goats cheese salad. Open all day and night, the menu changes seasonally so you’re always pleasantly suprised
Mexican Specialities reviewed by Kylie B.
If you want to try the most authentic Mexican food in Auckland then you need to make time in the diary on a Friday or Saturday to make the trip to Ellerslie between the hours of 10am and 3pm to sample the delights of Mexican Specialities cafe. Rarely open, the cafe has been running since 2004 but is only open for two days because the food experience here is very, very special. The definition of a hidden gem, Mexican Specialities is an excellent place to go if you want to create your own authentic Mexican meals at home and there's a whole heap of gorgeous gifts too. Well worth taking time out of your busy schedule for!
Jalapeño's Mexican Grill reviewed by Ailbhe D.
This was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to in Auckland, the ingredients were fresh and the food tasty, they also sell a selection of Mexican beers. Very reasonable prices too!
The vibrant atmosphere of this place. Who doesn't like wearing moustaches and sexy hats on their heads? Makes it so much fun! The food is delicious and the cocktails are to die for. The service is fabulous and everyone is happy and cheerful.

An intimate Mexican restaurant, this place is great for low priced meals with maximum atmosphere. There's live music on regularly and the drinks are pretty darn great.

Always my first choice when asked where I want to go out for dinner! Love the decor here and the atmosphere to match. The staff are really friendly and attentive without being annoying. AND THE FOOD! Omg. Amazing. Sometimes it can come out quite fast but if you want to stay longer there's nothing stopping you ordering from their huge selection of drinks and hanging out by the bar or patio (margheritas anyone?).
