Situated in a beautiful valley with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Aramatai Gardens were created by Stu and Trisha Donaldson who lived on the property for 32 years. Sold in 2012 to Leo and Jill Mouat who also run a working farm, the stunning 2 hectares of gardens feature an array of colourful native and exotic plants including rhododendrons, roses, camellias, perennials, irises and lilies.

The gardens also feature two large ponds, along with extensive lawns and numerous walkways which take you to a number of fabulous garden areas including the vegetable garden, sunken garden and fruit and nut orchard.

With rustic furniture dotted around ideal for a family picnic, a 15 minute walk through the farm will take you to magnificent hidden waterfall.

The gardens are open by appointment only with an entry charge of $5 per person.

The thing that makes Aramatai Gardens a stand out for me is the cute little rustic seats scattered throughout this property - great resting spots after I have got through the bountiful vegetable garden, sunken garden, fruit and nut orchard, and all the massive lawns and walkways. For just a small $5 cost, I think this one is definitely worth it.
