The domain is still a great place to drop in and have a picnic or lunch at. With it's location in town and a number of ways to access it makes it a great place to go for a break away from the chaos that is Auckland city. Also a great place for kids with many trees to climb, the duck pond, and the playground area, not to mention the huge grassy areas.

The Domain has long been a close place to hang out and relax inbetween study or work (being close to Auck Uni and Auck Hospital. Its worth checking out the Wintergardens every few months as they change frequently and the gardeners do a fantastic job of arranging the plants inside. The giant fish pond with water lilies on it is still great to view too. Of course there is also the museum to go to which can take up a whole day if you do it right, but for a quick visit, its worth parking near the Wintergardens and wandering around the area for as long as you have then having a nice picnic.

Love the Domain - always amazed that this is smack bang int eh middle of the city - ponds and ducks, walks and walkways, great trees for the kids to climb, good views of Auckland, so lush and green and special to our city.

As the weather is getting better the Domain is a beautiful place to go for a walk. It's great because it's right next to newmarket to pop down to the shops or cafes or then you can head down to parnell road. I love feeding the ducks there and they have really neat sections to the Domain and the gardens.

We've visited the winter gardens on many an occasion.  It's a nice, peaceful spot to have a picnic.  The greenhouses always have a colourful floral display and are toasty and warm on a cold day!  The fernery is worth a wee stroll just for the peaceful ambience.  Also worth visiting in summer when they have live music.

Love the Domain, it really is a special place for Aucklanders.  Brings back memories of being a kid and climbing around the beautiful old trees with my family, and I really love the cherry grove too.  Dynamic all seasons, can't wait for summertime picnics to roll around.

This is a great plACE TO GO FOR A FAMILY lunch out in the park, on a bright sunny day. you can enjoy yourself, sitting down playing maybe some outdoor games and kids can play around too. Well maintained grass levels. love going out there in the summer.

The Auckland Domain is perhaps one of my favourite places in Auckland, from the band rotunda to the magic of the Winter Gardens, the same sights our great grandparents saw, indeed you can walk the same paths they did. The grounds near the sports fields also offer more old worldly splendour, and somewhere to shelter if you're watching a rugby game during a downpour. The grounds offer the chance to meaner whether along the paths or for the more adventures, under the canapies of the trees. A walk up to the steps of the museum offers spectacular views over the city. A tourist stop must, or just a time to take in our beautiful city, especially on a sparkly, blue day. Make time, it's worth it.

A group of us needed a quiet lunch away from it all so decided to try the Winter garden.   all the dishes were beautiful and tasty.  I had kegeree and the other favourites were the cassoulet and the chicken and warm beetroot salad.  Nice fresh ingredients and full of flavour.  a lovely treat and nice service too.

Great to have this big green space in the city! I love the outdoor concerts in the summer. And the Auckland museum is great for locals as well as visitors.
