Always Fresh

If you're bringing kids to Silo Park or the Wynyard Quarter, definitely stop by the Auckland Fish Market. The live crayfish and eels are a source of endless fascination for children - especially when you compare the live crays to the cooked ones they have on ice!

Dad lives in Gisborne and, because he's retired, he has the well-deserved pleasure of casting a line, fishing most days and pulling up pots of crayfish so when he's in town for dinner, I know I need to source the very best. That's when I like to take a trip to Auckland Fish Market because they have such an incredible selection of fresh fish and seafood. Try the prawns and whatever fish takes your fancy because it's always good, so good.

So I visited the Auckland Fish Market's seafood school last night for a cooking lesson. It was one of the Black Market Spice Adventure series, Mark Dronjak was fantastic fun, we were a little lucky to have a small group so got loads of personal attention. We learnt to cook lovely shrimp cakes and a blackened fish gumbo, and I can't wait to cook this for friends at home. You get a complementary glass of wine on entry and you can purchase a bottle to eat with your meal. Check out http://aucklandseafoodschool.co.nz for more details.

Fantastic selection of super fresh, frozen and smoked fish. Also provide a range of ready to eat delights.

Whole, Filleted, sliced or diced - get your Fresh seafood here any way you prefer

The Auckland Fish Market is a great food stop for a weekend stroll along Wynnard Quarter. It’s interesting for the kids to check out the fish, lots of which are freshly frozen. The market is an ideal source to get supplies for coming meals. Choose your fish and watch as the talented staff, gut your chosen sea dweller in front of your very eyes and package it for a take home treat!

Oooh the Seafood School sounds wicked! Keen to go there!

Fresh fish? Check. Fresh seafood? Check! Want to learn how to cook it? In the Seafood School's auditorium you watch a cooking demonstration, then roll up your sleeves, slip on an apron and recreating their extraordinary seafood cuisine. You then sit-down to enjoy the spoils of your toils in the company of your evening's chef! Visit the Seafood School now, so much fun!

When fish is on the menu in our house there is only one place to go: the Auckland Fish Market. As well as an incredible array of fresh seafood they have a great food market packed with all sorts of treats and inspiring cooking ingredients, and if you can’t wait to get home they even sell perfectly prepared hot fish and chips to eat in or takeaway. And it’s close to Wynyard Quarter - a bonus for coffee lovers and little ones alike.
