To experience the majesty of Auckland from one of its best vista points, Christmas lunch at Auckland's Waitakere Estate is a must-do, especially if you have visitors in town. Nestled deep in the heart of the city's rainforest - the Waitakere Ranges - the estate is at the very top of one of the highest hills in the range giving you an uninterrupted view of Auckland, all the way to Great Barrier Island. The place is very kitsch and there's a blazing fire so wear your best Christmas jumper and make like you've stepped into a Northern Hemisphere Christmas. Plus, the prices are nice with the Christmas Day meal priced at $135 a head for adults and $67.50 for children (note: children under the age of five are not permitted).

Take in a High Tea experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city. At Waitakere Estate, you can drink in the stunning views overlooking native rainforest, Waitamata Harbour and Rangitoto island while indulging in such delights as rosewater and vanilla scones, pumpkin & goats cheese brioche sliders and strawberry opera slices.

Beautiful location, stunning scenery while you eat, delicious food.

Hi Tam - thank you so much for your kind words; we are delighted you had such a wonderful experience. We look forward to seeing you back again soon.

Only a very short drive from my home ( 15-20 minutes) and I was in the middle of no where or so it seemed.  I had bought a daily voucher for a degustation dinner & one night in the hotel. We arrived and were greeted by an extremely pleasant and helpful staff member.  The room was lovely with all the amenities we required plus more.  The view was spectacular. We decided to go for a walk ( a map was given) however a planned short walk turned into a very long, very rough hike through the very hot forest.  Thankfully the pool beckons and I had a divine refreshing dip to recover from my meltdown. After a shower and dress up we arrived for dinner.  Sadly the bar was unattended so we had to chase down someone to open it along with another couple.  The drink prices made up for our wait however. The meal was superb although the courses came way too fast.  We asked for at least ten minutes between courses which was immediately followed much to our relief.   Overall a very lovely meal. A wonderful oasis in the middle of nowhere, yet not too far from the city.  A real getaway and stress reliever.  we enjoyed a wonderful sleep, a fabulous breakfast and some amazing bird life in the trees outside much to my partners delight. The best thing of all was the absolutely amazing view of Auckland from our room and the restaurant.      Honestly it was the best I've seen.

Auckland's Waitakere Estate is a wee slice of heaven on Earth.  Set down a long private driveway is an amazing hotel built on a ridge.  Once there you can see breathtaking bush views along with scenic views of Auckland (and the ever present Sky Tower).  We've eaten here a few times and the food is always good.  A wonderful spot for a special occasion such as a wedding anniversary.  One of these days we may even manage to spend a night here in the hotel.

Auckland's Waitakere Estate is nestled in amongst native bush with stunning views of Auckland city.  Our room was comfortable and we had a great time relaxing.  We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was absolutely divine.  If you want to take some time out to relax and unwind not too far from the city, this is the place to do it!
