As New Zealand's first museum, Auckland War Memorial Museum tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific and its people.

The Museum is a war memorial for the province of Auckland and holds one of New Zealand's top three heritage libraries. It has pre-eminent Māori and Pacific collections, significant natural history resources and major social and military history collections, as well as decorative arts and pictorial collections.

Best of all, admission is free to Auckland residents, making it easy to stop by and check out the ever-changing collections. A fantastic outing for kids and adults alike.

It is an amazing place to visit in a rainy day and also free for residents. So many things to discover that you can spend half of your day there. The food at the cafe is great.

Kids love going to this and so do I! Recommended

Auckland’s Museum is actually good

Free entry for Auckland residents, my toddler loves walking around different parts of the museum and looking at all the different things. They also do free interactive storytelling for kids at the weekends.

Rain or shine, day or night the museum will always fascinate our family. Not only informative, it's a fun way to learn about New Zealand's past and the world around.

wonderful place to visit no matter the weather, something for everyone and the weird and wonderful display might be intended for the young ones is fabulous for all.

A glorious, wonderfully preserved architectural Auckland icon. Surrounded by beautiful grounds and affording buena vistas. Inside is a world of discovery awaits which has been enjoyed by generations of families and tourists alike.

I love taking the nature trails up to the museum - and in the museum there is something to interest everyone

Great for a rainy day or something to do, take the "lovers walk" nature trail on the way up too. Something for everyone in Auckland museum for a donation entry.
