Yoga academy is an oasis of calm in the central city. I love their Hatha and Astanga Yoga classes. Regular visits here keep me feeling healthy physically and mentally all winter long.

I’ve been bending and stretching in the early morning hours at this studio run by passionate yoginis Peter Nilsson and Jude Hynes for four years now and I love the convenience of the school’s timetable. By heading in from the west on the motorway early, I miss the traffic and can be in class by 7.30am, doing my own practice. Situated in Federal Street, there is almost always parking and the quiet, leafy street and building itself has a peaceful, zen-like quality. They also do lunchtime and after-work classes in both Ashtanga and Hatha styles and meditation classes.

I like the Ashtanga yoga classes here. Jodie’s bilingual Manderin and English class on a Saturday is a delight. Even though the class is tough she has such a great voice and I love hearing it in 2 languages.

They have a great timetable - if you need to fit in a class at lunchtime you can. The most experienced teachers in Auckland. You’ll feel better for just walking in to this place.

I purchased yoga lessons for a month via groupon, for $49. Never done yoga before, always wanted to try it. Yoga academy offers beginner courses and really looks after you, I learned a lot and still practice. It is a nice, clean, warm atmosphere and everyone is very friendly. Different teacher every day. Free chai tea in the chillout area and relaxing music. Big changing rooms with heaters and showers. 2 Yoga areas and enough space, sometimes the evening courses are a bit packed and it gets cozy in there. Still I only can recommend this place!
