why service your transmission

Posted by to Autoland Northshore

Not many people are aware of the fact that transmission oil should be regularly changed to remove dirt or grit that interferes with the inner gear box.

If dirt or grit builds up, it could result in transmission failure which could cost you anything from $2000-$4000.

The old way of changing transmission oil was to drain the oil. This only changed up to 50 per cent of the transmission oil. As regular maintance the transmission oil should be changed on average about every 30.000kms. A transmission machine must be used in order to completely remove the old oil and any contamination from the system in order to allow for a refill of new, clean oil for lubrication.

At Autoland, the mechanics use a transmission machine. This is connected to the oil lines and pumps new oil into the transmission while sucking up the old oil. This results in almost 100 per cent clear oil in the transmission. Some cars now have special oils in the transmission, this can also be done by the same machine. See our service specials
