This place rocks! The food is amazing, tastes authentic, the quantities are plentiful, the menu is extensive and everything in it is delicious (I should know, since I’ve tasted just about everything on the menu), and it is soo cheap!I’ve been lunching and dining at Banzai for over a year now, and even though sometimes they can take ages because the kitchen is tiny and only 2 people can cook at one time, I keep coming back because the food is consistantly great and the service is super friendly. If I had to recommend 3 dishes? The Chicken Miso Udon Soup (yum), The salmon and tuna Sashimi (really fresh), and the Beef Yakiniku (I swear that sauce is like liquid heaven!.
This is the most darling, sweet little Japanese eatery. In a strange kind of way, the location reminds me of strip malls in LA, where incidentally, one of the greatest Japanese restaurants in the world outside of japan itself is located, deep in the valley. While banzai is no Go’s Mart, what it is is unadorned, uncomplicated classic Japanese, not being fussy or trying too hard, but fresh and delicious. Small menu, sushi, donburi, teriyaki chicken, etc, and they’re licensed. Magazines in case you’re dining alone, and did I say the staff are the sweetest i’ve ever come across? So cute. Will go back.
This place is fabulous. I enjoy many of the great Japanese reteraunts in Auckland, but this is the one I keep going back to. I’ve been coming here for 3 years since recommended by a friend and i’ll keep recommending it to others. The food is fresh and full of flavour, and you never have to wait long for it. The refreshments to accompany it are also great, whether it be a nice cold asahi or a hot saki. To top it all off the prices are great and the service is fabulous! Kid friendly too!
