A 2.7km loop from the lower main gates car park, this easy one hour track meanders through native shrubs and eucalyptus to a stunning grove of 223 Californian redwoods. Thanks to the vision of the early settler farming Chambers family, who gifted the 99-hectare Te Mata Peak reserve to the people of Hawke’s Bay and planted the trees in 1927, these 40-metre-tall beauties are ours forever.
