It may seem weird that a vegetarian loves this place, given they specialise in chicken! But if you've been here you'll understand why. The salads - fresh, flavoursome, and so many options to choose from. My go-to is the medium salad, Japanese slaw and aubergine noodle salad with a side of tofu! Tastes delicious and keeps me going all day.
I had to check myself last weekend when I realised three of my meals in the last two days had been Bird On a Wire rolls because they are so delicious. I always grab the jerk chicken roll or the Korean barbecue roll - both of which blow my mind with delectable chicken goodness. The weekly specials are also worth a try. A must visit in Ponsonby.
For those who love leafy greens or beta-carotene beauties, Bird On A Wire has a cult following because it truly is one of the best salad bars in Auckland. I'm excited that their Ponsonby store is in the heart of Localist's local and it's a regular lunch haunt for the content team at least once a week. I'm a big fan of the summer slaw with apple cider and wholegrain mustard vinaigrette and am pretty excited that my lunch break today will include chowing down on a returning perennial fan favourite - the melt-in-the-mouth sensation that is their char-grilled aubergine, coriander, sesame and sweet soy noodle salad. I wish it was lunch time already! Love you #birdonawirenz
It's no surprise that Bird On A Wire has built up a cult following in the two and a half years it's been on Ponsonby Road, their chicken is just that good. Although they do great burgers and sandwiches, it's the fantastic fresh salads that you can have with or without chicken that are a stand out for me. I love the Japanese slaw with miso dressing and the beetroot and carrot salad with maple dressing, although all of their salads are delicious. I usually choose a mix of my favourite three salads on the day and add a little of their tasty chicken for a perfect lunch or dinner takeaway.
