One of my favourite backpackers in the whole of NZ, Birdsong not only has a lovely name but fantastic staff, service and clean, warm rooms. A great place to meet fellow travellers and to get to know the locals, this is a place I recommend any international and Kiwi visitors that I meet who are travelling through the South Island. The facilities are basic, as you would expect from this reasonably priced hostel, but I guarantee you'll be delighted by this lovely backpackers, situated in one of the most picturesque parts of the country.
