Croissants, breads, jams and chutneys, handmade baby items, it's all here. Bring lots of cash and an empty stomach and you won't be disappointed! A firm favourite in our house for a weekend outing and then a yummy lunch when we get home.

Cute little market where you can also find some food such as honey or jams.

The Birkenhead artisan market is a quaint little market where you can find loads of wonderful handmade goodies.  Stalls featuring handmade children’s and adult clothing, soy candles in tea cups, baking supplies, dog accessories, jewelry, scarves, used books and even homemade chocolate.  It is open every 3rd Saturday of the month from 9am -1pm. When I first arrived it looked quite small and I figured I would breeze through it in no time. Boy was I wrong. I wanted to find some unique gifts for the family and that is exactly what I found.  Homemade licorice was our first stop.  Wow!! Beautiful to-die-for homemade licorice made in numerous ways for maximum pleasure. Perfect for a little inexpensive side gift which I then wrapped into little parcels for each family member.  Then we moved inside and found some handmade, beautiful mosaic candles made from non-toxic soy. The perfect, pretty gift for Mum and at an affordable price.  Lastly after sampling a handful of dips we scooped up homemade garlic vinaigrette for the Man of the house.  All in all I had a great little Saturday morning chatting with the local vendors and exploring the stalls.
