I'm writing a separate review for this, because I think this course was really important for me. Birthcare run these courses on site and you can book in before your child is born. The information I had here was fantastic and helped me so much. I had such a tricky time feeding my first child. I believe it was this course that gave me the determination and knowledge to keep trying even when it seemed really tough. If you're a first-time parent, I can't recommend this highly enough.
With both of our children, we've completed a Birthcare antenatal class. They have a large number of them in different locations. If you're a parent-to-be, it's well worth doing. Make sure you book early though as they are free for first-time parents and very popular. They are carried out by various staff and really help you prepare for the birth. As mentioned, we've done two of their antenatal classes. With our second child, we did a refresher course (we'd forgotten a lot since the last birth). We had to pay the second time, but it was well worth it. It was just one session, so easy to fit in and also gave us new information. Definitely one of the best things we did to prepare for birth number two!
LOVE Birthcare. Had a horrible time in hospital after my first child was born, then transferred myself here for one night before going home. The difference was amazing. Such great care, tasty food and HELP whenever you needed it. Went straight here after the birth of number two. If I was having any more children, I'd give birth here as well.
there really is no place like home but for a new mother this is a nice alternative for a little while. I spent a night here after having my daughter. The staff were great the room facilities were really great and having a window out to the outside makes it a bit more homelike. There are still hospital features, i.e. you share a room so even if your baby sleeps well the baby in the other bed may not so thats why there is no place like home. But there is a nice big lounge to sit in with family and friends so you are not just stuck in one room. Parking is rather easy and it is close to lots of things so visitors can easily pick up snacks for you if you feel like something different :)
Birthcare is truly God's gift to new mothers. From the moment you arrive and someone offers to change your baby while you rest...to the lavender baths they run for you. The single rooms are divine with views often over the park and some have their own little balcony. All have their very own large shower and toilet. The double rooms are fully subsidised but don't get all the treats of the single rooms. However still far, far better than a hospital ward. After you have your lavender bath you can have dinner chosen off a menu and can compliment it with a little bottle of wine if you choose. I tried everything on this earth to stay for more than my three nights but alas, no...the time comes when they are resistant to our pleads to stay...trust me I know.
