It couldn’t be a best craft beer list without Brauhaus Frings topping the lot. I would even go as far to say these guys are the best craft brewery to visit in Northland. They always offer four tip-top tap brews that sizzle and simmer on your palate. Try their lager, draught, old ale or pilsner on tap. The champions manning the bar will be able to push you in the right direction for your tastes. If you’re after something different try their alcoholic ginger beer or apple cider.
Organic beer? It must be healthy! That's the number one reason I'm loving Brauhaus Frings Brewery, they're committed to pouring 100% organic beer 100% of the time - score! This place is a total must-try on a steamy summers day as they have a particularly lovely outdoor area that catches all the suns rays.
Treat your old man to locally brewed hops from Brauhaus Frings - the draught, old ale and lager are all available in 2L take-home flagons ($14ea, refills $12), or for a fun time bring him in on the day to enjoy Carver’s Sunday, with a DJ playing good sing-a-long stuff. I’m told the guitars often come out later in the evening.
I’d heard great things about the beers here I just had to head in and give them a whirl myself. And now I see what my friends were ranting on about. They keep it simple, with three beers (give or take) brewed on site up for tasting. The Bomemian lager, their most popular and moreish, was easy to sip, and one pint of their hearty ‘old ale’ was a flavour explosion. With the outdoor seating in summer and woodfired pizza’s, this place sits right in the recommended category.
