For fine-dining before catching a movie, Cafe Medici is a good choice. It has an intimate atmosphere and lots of fresh ideas on the menu - try the Chinese Bang Bang Chicken entree of spicy poached chicken, Chinese rocket salad and sesame and ginger dressing, it’s delicious. The Morrocan lamb tagine is also a rich, flavoursome dish. Medici is also part of the Wellington on a Plate festival in August, with a special dinner menu of two courses plus a Wellington regional beverage for $49. To round off your meal, grab a Mojo coffee before you head to the local cinema, Circus, just a short walk away.
Medici is a great place to go for some Italian-influenced cuisine in Martinborough. Start with some fresh Medici made breads with marinated olives and hummus and try the Risotto of the Day. Pair your meal with a local wine or tasty beer, listen to the live music and relax in a lovely atmosphere. If you’re hankering something sweet, try the traditional Italian gelato.
Head here on a Sunday for a delicious brunch with a twist, they serve brunch classics like bacon and eggs but also enchilada wraps- a kind of breakfast burrito , chilli corn fritters and toasted bagels. The lunch menu, which starts at 11.30am, does not disappoint either. Portions are generous and the place has a nice outdoor seating area to dine in.
