Cafe Pinot should be on any Taupo local or tourists’ place to hit up before they close down over the winter period in May. It’s got the sweetest countryside deck out, with even sweeter views out onto Mount Tauhara and the vineyard below. As the name implies, its the perfect place for a pinot noir (or gris) while enjoying a couple of cheese and/or ploughman’s platters with good friends.

Who says wineries are only a Summer thing? I think Taupo's Cafe Pinot is definitely worth a visit over Winter too. They easily have one of the best red wine selections on Taupo and a top notch winter menu to match. I absolutely love their macadamia capsicum ravioli served with a creamy vegetable sauce and prawns - so worth the drive to Huka Falls Road over winter.
Cafe Pinot is my all-time favourite vineyard/chill zone over summer and I can't wait for next summer already to don some shades, and soak up some Taupo sun with a beautiful pinot noir (or pinot gris) while overlooking some pretty stunning views across to Mount Tauhara. Alfresco dining has to be THE best way to enjoy food, and I love how cafe pinot has really turned it to their advantage with a great selection of wines, matched perfectly to whatever takes my fancy on the day. Seafood platter for to, come at me already!
