This has got to be one of the best little cinemas in town. I found out about it through film society that’s hosted here, and ever since it’s been my go-to for the chance to see a perfectly curated selection of local and international titles in a beautiful cinema that really sets the mood and provides a perfect setting to relax, unwind and enjoy the show.

    I love this place! It's always our go-to cinema as the seats are so spacious and staff so friendly. It really does feel like a date. Plus the other night they had a full house! Haven't seen that since I was there in the 90's!

      It might not look like much from the outside, but inside you’ll find a cute little single cinema. Really cheap prices during the day and great in the evening for a date night.

          It feels like walking into the past when I go to Capitol. The service is great and you can always find something interesting to watch.

            The little sister of the Lido, capitol is a cosy and friendly place to watch a great movie. It is small and warm with inviting interior. Highly reccomended.

              Awesome Art Cinema, they always choose a great selection of movies and its perfect on a rainy day. Go watch a movie and follow it up with yummy dumplings across the road at Barilla

                There are a few great little cinemas in Auckland, but Capitol is my favourite.  They choose fantastic indie and foreign films, the interior is luxurious, the aisles are wide and the seats are comfortable... it’s the sort of cinema that makes you feel like you probably should have dressed up a little nicer, in a good way. All that and the unassuming entry (which I walked right past the first time I went here) makes me feel like I’m totally hip and/or in the know when I attend a showing here. :b

                  Capitol Cinema is a cinema with character. They play a great, but small, selection of well chosen art house and foreign films. It’s the perfect accompaniment to hitting up one of the dumpling houses on Dominion Road. Well worth checking out.

                    Recently refurbished, Capitol Cinema on Dominion Rd has reclaimed its reputation as one of Auckland's best independent cinemas. You'll wish you could stay in those plush new seats long after the film is done, although the array of cheap and cheerful restaurants on the strip outside may just be enough to move you along.
