If you really want to escape the rat race for the weekend and check out one of the most untapped locations in the Auckland region, a couple of nights glam camping on the Awhitu Peninsula is money well spent. Situated on the clifftops above the black sand beauty of Karioitahi Beach is a hidden gem called Castaways Resort and it's one of the most romantic places on earth. Glam camping only takes 48 guests so it pays to book in advance but the resort's accommodation is equally as beautiful.
