The Castor Bay Beach Reserve is a small grassy area located beside a picturesque beach with views out to Rangitoto Island. Situated in a quiet neighbourhood between Milford and Campbells Bay, there is a kids playground boasting 2 fabulous slides, monkey bars and more.

There are also a couple of picnic tables, along with a huge tree providing shade and entertainment for older children.

When the kids finish playing, go for a dip in the beach's shallow waters, or walk around the rocks through JF Kennedy Memorial park where you will find a secluded beach down a set of wooden steps.

I was wary of divulging this treasure of mine to the public because it has formerly strictly only been my favourite place to bring people lucky enough (I.e. if they have bought me food once upon a time or something). However, I feel as though it is just too beautiful to keep a selfish secret. Once you park in the reserve by the playground, walk down the army barracks where you will see some huge wooden steps. Step out onto them and it is the most breath taking view, I love bringing people here to see their reaction to it. It is stunning! Once you walk down the elaborate steps the most beautiful clear watered, white sanded beach is all yours. Do not take advantage of this information, only bring those worthy here. Or I will hunt you down.

great for walks and safe

Often take my toddlers here as climbing frame seems to suit all ages of kids upto around 7. Lovely small reserve, right on beach, good amount of parking and usually not too busy. Feels very safe for kids to run around.  Just wish they had some swings for my 1 year old.

Great for groups who have some wanting to swim and some wanting to slide. Castor Bay is also one of the venues for the community trust family fun days.
