At 8am when I'm dragging my feet down Cuba street to the bus top, Customs is my light at the end of the tunnel! A small space with a selective menu, this place serves some of the best coffee in Welly. If you can nab a seat, it's a cozy getaway on those dreary Wellington days, otherwise grab a takeaway and off you go.

Customs make, in my humble opinion, the best coffee in Wellington. There are always a carefully curated array of origins and varietals available, and the baristas are more than happy to brew your choice of bean to your liking, using whichever brewing method you prefer. Especially neat are the information cards that come with each coffee, giving you insight into the process behind the scenes. The staff are also super friendly, and remember orders and faces, which is always nice!

Great coffee and a really great environment for you to sit down and go over your emails and have a relaxing start to your day, space is at a premium, but in quieter moments this place is the best to just relax and have some fantastic soft brew.

Sitting pretty for me as well is Coffee Supremes flagship, with a fantastic fit out a commitment to excellence and some incredibly great filter coffee. Buying your beans from here is great, as they will give you exactly the amount you want. The espresso is usually really great and they will often have some great origins going through. The new fetco here is incredible and obviously incredibly quick, it’s my personal go to at the moment for coffee if I’m in town. One of the finer cafes Wellington has on offer.

Good crew, best coffee in town

Best coffee in town

On Ghuznee st, one of Wellington’s best coffee shops resides, for fans of either espresso or filter. Being Coffee Supremes flagship wellington store, there is a large attention to detail and a wide variety of coffee on offer from very knowledgeable staff. If you like soft-brew this is the best place to be, with nearly any flavor your after available, and if your having trouble with your coffee making exploits at home, you should be able to find an answer from the barista’s here. Another one of Wellington’s excellent coffee shops!

A group of friends and I head to Customs for a catch-up every Sunday morning – in part because of its convenient location and in part because it's one of the best cafes in central Wellington. While it might not necessarily be the best choice if you're looking for a bite to eat (there's a quality, but small range of cabinet food, but nothing particularly substantial), the quality of coffee is second to none. There's also excellent reading matter (Vice, a whole stack of Mediums, some foreign fashion magazines, the daily and weekly papers).

Awesome as peeps, laxed feel, oh and amazing coffee!!

Though no one will look down on you for ordering a flat white, if you’re in the mood to broaden your horizons, Customs Brew Bar is a great place to start. It specialises in soft brews, and has a wide variety of beans, sourced from all over the world. It serves Coffee Supreme.
