Deluxe Espresso Bar

The sandwiches at Deluxe are on a whole other level. The coffee is on point, and the staff are always friendly, and fast. Most of the cabinet food is vegetarian or vegan, and the outdoor tables are a great people-watching perch.

Deluxe serves up a large array of food items everyday, with baking made in house everyday and sandwiches brought in as well. It has a range of options and nearly all are vegetarian, and also healthy for you. With great food on offer and in a handy location right next to the embassy, if you find yourself at this end of town for lunch you should find what you need here.

I’ve been eating Deluxe salads, oatie slices and pies since I moved to Wellington many, many years ago and I don’t know what I’d do with them.

Deluxe have an awesome selection of vegan and vegetarian food, both sweet and savoury. They also do lots of dairy and gluten free goodies too.

Another one of Wellington’s cafe institutions with lots of vegetarian-friendly counter food, excellent sandwiches, cakes and slices, and Havana Coffee. It’s a great place to stop for a snack before or after a film at the Embassy, or any other reason to visit. I wish it was closer to my house!

Long afternoons of Kurt Vonnegut and a bit too much caffiene for someone as young as I was in Deluxe cafe are amongst the defining experiences of my young life. It seems ick to call Deluxe a bit of a womb, but it is and that’s not ick.
