The Poor Knights Islands of Tutukaka Coast are some of THE most spectacular dive spots in the world. Dive! Tutukaka are one of the better ways to explore this area too. To truly enjoy this wonder of the world, you really need to get in to the water. But for those of you wanting to remain dry and still experience a beautiful marine reserve, they have day trips to cater to that too. My favorite part of The Poor Knights is the gigantic sea cave which can be swam or driven in to by boat! If you shout loud enough in there the echo shakes the small water droplets down from the roof and gives you a short period of man made rain! It’s amazing.
Dive! Tutukaka (or dive toots as they're known) have an incredible reputation as being the best dive company to use in Northland. They always win awards for being a top tourism business or for their sustainability. I love how they incorporate Maori concepts into the running of their business like Kaitiakitanga which is about taking care of the environment so it will be there for many generations to come.
