Killer cronuts, yummy pies and great coffee will make it hard to visit the Fairlie Bakehouse in Canterbury just once. This local bakery is known for producing some of the best pies in New Zealand and as a result is pretty busy. In fact, Fairlie Bakehouse employ 20+ friendly, efficient staff because their pies are in such hot demand. Their huge range of pie flavours aren't your usual classic Kiwi flavours either with the bacon and salmon and the pork belly and apple (accompanied by obligatory crackling on top) proving to be local favourites. Well worth a stop on a South Island road trip.

A steak and beer pie that I still drool over just remembering! Buttery, flakey pastry and savoury filling....delicious fresh cheesecake and great coffee. Got there 5 minutes before the rush, thank goodness, because the cabinets were cleared out in seconds. Nice clean tables and friendly staff. Gots to go back!!
