If like me you have never been to a podiatrist and are under the illusion they just take care of little old ladies bunions and corns you are in for a big surprise. My feet and legs under go physical abuse on a daily basis as I take part in several different sports - running, triathlons and Zumba.  My poor feet take the brunt of it! So on the advice of my daughter and armed with my favourite running shoes I visited Aaron at Foot Mechanics. Entering Foot Mechanics you’ll see it has a contemporary fit out, which is clean, fresh, inviting and relaxing. Visiting Foot Mechanics for the first time you will need to fill in a consultation form before your assessment gets underway. Aaron’s first job was a smelly one! He had to inspect my shoes to see the hidden clues on the soles and innersoles. I then underwent two tests today, a gait analysis using video equipment, which involved me walking up in down in front of the camera and the plantar pressure measurement test to see the downward force from my feet as I walked, both were totally pain free. Time to sit down and hear the verdict. We went through the video footage showing the way I was walking, with Aaron pointing out little things to watch out for and improve on, so far not to bad for me, then on to my plantar results. On the computer screen in front of me there they were, my feet in glorious technicolour except for my toes, which were lacking in definition and some of them were missing.  The cause of my missing toes was my Lazy Big Toes! With the use of a skeletal foot Aaron demonstrated what was happening to my big toes and reassured me with the help a few exercise, wearing the correct foot wear they’d be back performing in no time.  With exercise’s and shoe recommendations in hand my visit was over.  I will definitely be back again and will make sure that I make my appointment well in advance.  Amongst the Foot Mechanic clients are the All Black, it’s more important to get their podiatry needs covered they’ve got a World Cup to win!
