At Gala we serve a truly scrumptious selection of breakfast and lunch dishes, all made with the freshest ingredients, seven days a week.
Since opening four years ago we have received numerous accolades and reviews, and in 2010 we were crowned the 'Supreme Winner' of Auckland's café scene in Metro Magazine.
In summer we have a pleasant outdoor area and in winter our fire place keeps any chills at bay. Our entire menu is also available to takeaway.
So if you haven't already, come sample our delicious menu, with freshly baked cakes and first-rate coffee. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Appalling you may just get your car towed...if you don't hear the cafe owner / chef calling out to see if you parked. Both my friend and I had our cars towed after just 15 minutes of being there... Yes we got talking outside the cafe and going to the toilet before walking in.The guy almost looked pleased. We asked for him to talk to the tow company he called. Not a chance apparently taking a loo break was our fault. I've been going to the cafe many times a month but no more. Ticket cost $250.00 - he didn't even apologise he felt justified. The cafe was half empty. That money was earmarked to help a friend in a bad situation - a women's refuge situation. Disgusted at this - this guy was looking sheepish and smiling but no apology. Perhaps the $18 we spent wasn't enough for his precious park.
Gala has often been raved about in Metro etc and I have eaten there may times in the past. However I was very disappointed on a visit we had there today. The service was incredilby lacklustre. Large coffees could only be delivered in a takeaway cup. The latte, flat white and tea all arrived seperately over a period of about 5 minutes. One coffee in a takeaway cup but on a saucer with a spoon and the other without. Very odd. We were one of only two tables in the place that were taken and the food took about 15 minutes.. Very odd for three orders of Eggs Bene... Then we sat for at least an hour without a waitress bothering to ask if we wanted anything else. Again with no other customers there so it wasn't like they were busy. The food was good but the service off par.
Nestled amongst an apartment complex in Edwin street but definitely worth a visit. Quite a spacious cafe with some outdoor seating with flowing water in the background. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere make this a nice destination for breakfast or lunch. Meals have increased since our last visit to around the $20 mark per person. One of my favorite meals here is the steak sandwich!
