The Harbourside in the ferry building downtown has an amazing deck looking out over the harbour. If you’re not a fan of the hustle and bustle of central city life then this one might not be for you, but once you get on that deck with a beverage in your hand I can guarantee everything will be A-O.K.! It’s surprisingly relaxing watching Auckland’s commuters doing their thing as you do exactly the opposite. If you’re a seafood lover, then prepare your tastebuds for an experience too.
From when you walk into harbourside you know you're in for a wonderful experience. The location is superb and the staff are professional, welcoming and friendly. The menu is superb. If you like seafood you'll be in heaven! The food itself is why this is my favourite restaurant. Highly recommend it to anyone!
You get what you pay for, and in the case of Harbourside, you’re paying a fair amount! But it didn’t disappoint. We had a wonderful time here with a friend from overseas on his first trip to NZ. He got to sample Bluff Oysters, some excellent NZ wine and delicious food all while looking out over the harbour (under an outside heater). All the staff were friendly and super helpful. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
These guys have been here for a long time in the ferry building and you can tell by the decor. I've been here a few times now though and its really nice sitting out on the deck in the sun, i wouldn't want to be in the dated indoors restaurant though. The staff are friendly, helpful and speedy. food is OBVIOUSLY fresh out of the sea. dont come here and order a steak, take advantage of all the great fresh seafood and shellfish. we came here for a mothers day lunch. they were busy so our food took a really long time, just as well we didn't have to rush off anywhere. But everyone was very happy with their orders. wine was lovely, sea views amazing, fresh grilled fish superb. The prices I think are relatively reasonable. the portions are not big but thats not what the food is about. its quality or quantity
Harbourside is in a beautiful building with great views, I love the decor of the inside beautiful pale green chairs that are very comfy. We had a largish group which was catered for really well. The water was constantly refilled as was the wine. I had the paella which was HUGE but the seafood was a tad over cooked. The chocolate tart was amazingly rich and thankfully shared! A wee bit pricey but I would definitely return.
