The tiny town of Haumoana is a real gem and truly treasured by the locals. On the east coast of the North Island, Haumoana doesn't have much in the way of shops, but makes up for it with beauty and location. Historically, thriving with beach homes, Haumoana has quietened down slightly though still worth renting a batch there for a few days, or check out the free campsite nearby!

This charming town is a good base location for activities close by. The locals love to surf cast of the beach, also close by are wineries and the mouth of Tukituki River.

Love the seaside settlement of Haumoana. It’s so close to Te Awanga, Clifton and its award-winning wineries. The sound of the Pacific waves dumping on the beach and the sweep of the shingle moving across the beach is powerful.

This pretty little coastal village, once a holiday home mecca, is now within commutable distance to Napier and Hastings. It’s right on the Landscape Ride cycle/walk path and a good base in which to explore the wineries, surf cast off the beach and river mouth, or visit the world’s mainland gannet colony at Cape Kidnapper’s and other Clifton tourism attractions. Try out one of the holiday homes or free camping area at Te Awanga.
