Howick historical Village is a 7 acre site with gardens and buildings constructed in a Fencible settlement during the 1880 to 1840 period.

The beautiful original colonial buildings create an amazing atmosphere, and include a school, church, forge and general store.

Give the kids a taste of history with a visit to the Howick Historical Village. There are interactive guides in traditional dress to take you through the seven-acre property, with lots to see and experience.

Head east and take a stroll through one of Auckland’s oldest precincts, complete with a historic Village. Take the kids to wander through the seven acres that Howick Historical Village is set on - I love the old world charm that’s been carefully preserved in this place. While you’re in the area, grab a coffee at the Apothecary Cafe on Picton St.

I, myself am a history lover so going to the Howick Historical village and being immerged right into the past is right up my alley! There are little houses, a church a school and there are even people dressed in costume!! :D

Mr nearly three found lots of things to excite his interest during our afternoon out at the village - he especially liked the raupo cottage, the abacuses in the school and the chickens. For the adults there was a lot to look at, read and think about what life must have been like 150 years ago - definitely worth a trip!

Truly enjoyed the day here. Well maintained with very helpful staff and volunteers.

This is a great place for a family outing. The on-site cafe provides nice home made food and it is reasonably priced. Try to get out there on their live days - they recreate how life would have been for the early Howick settlers.  Great place to spend a lazy summers day.

So nice on a summers day. With interactive guides in traditional dress, authentic sounds in various buildings to add atmosphere and fun games for the kids to get involved with, this village has something for everyone. I've been twice now and found something new to see each time. I really loved the mansion house but the church was lovely and the houses across the ages very well depicted. You can even relax after with a cup of tea.

Take the kids to experience the way of life for the fencibles of Howick. We went on a live day so there are people in costumes teaching the children about different aspects of life in the olden days. Eg: How they cooked, what they played with etc. Great fun for the whole family and really interesting. I used to come here when I was primary aged so really fun taking my kids to see what it is like.

Go & learn the Victorian ways of recycling on Sunday 16th. The Live Days are always fun, a real family day, you can wear appropriate clothing if you want . A great day of fun where you have hands on experiences & go home feeling thankful that you live in today's world with "electric maids" but a hankering to learn more of the past.

This is a marvellous place to enjoy with friends and visitors. Our pioneering history comes alive here. Their festival days are extra special. Volunteers are dressed in costume and play out their role convincingly. I enjoyed the classroom and the old toys. Chickens, ducks and geese wander around the authentic victorian gardens. The old shop has sweets to buy and the pub a fun skittle game. This is a great days outing.
