Cannot recommend this store highly enough! JB Hi Fi stores in general are good, but the one in Botany is superb. The staff there are friendly and always very helpful. Plus they're always willing to beat another store's price so you always leave feeling happy. I always visit JB Hi Fi before I visit any other store.

I like JB Hifi a lot. Their stores are well layed out and things are really easy to find. The staff are helpful and friendly and the prices tend to be lower than many other places. It's a bit hectic in there though.

Good review :)

I always feel like I'm committing  some grave sin whenever I shop at a at a big box retailer like JB Hi-Fi, but sometimes it can't be helped. When I first stopped by I was really surprised by their range, probably have a more extensive collection than Real Groovy up the hill and obviously better priced. With the loud music and ghastly displays t's a horrible place to spend time in, so it's best left for quick raids.

Over the last two decades the "record store" has taken a bit of a hammering. When I started University in 1993 Queen Street was littered with Record Stores - there was a bunch of Sounds stores, a big HMV megastore, three Marbecks and at least one other chain. (Brashes? Truetone?) Add to that Real Groovy, Crawlspace Records and Corner Records, plus a handful of second hand places on nearby Karangahape Road. The Auckland CBD was a veritable cornucopia for the pop music fan. Now Queen Street is a musical wasteland. Most of the above-mentioned chains are gone. Marbecks is still holding their own in Queen's Arcade, but all the other chains have long since disappeared, and of the independents on Real Groovy remains. As such, the arrival of JB Hi-Fi in Auckland about five years ago was a real blessing. A "big box" store with Warehouse-like pricing, but also with a wide range of back catalogue/more obscure music and knowledgable staff. Chart CDs are always around the twenty dollar mark, and generally the prices of albums are very competitive.

Superb review ! :)

The busy Queen Street JB Hi Fi is definately one of my favourite electronic stores. The staff are friendly and always ready to assist you when you need them. They know their products and always give you their honest opinion. I found them to be extremely knowledgable and they allow you the space and time to browse in peace ( no pushy salesmen). Even the security guard at the door checks your bags with such a friendly attitute. Definately recommend this store to anyone looking to buy their next gadget.

Great review :)

JB Hifi on Queen St were legendary when it came to buying my PS3. The retail assistant who helped me offered sound advice from somebody who owns their own - and, fortunately, has the same taste in gaming! She didn't try to sell me anything more than I needed, and even cut me a deal on the whole thing. I really feel confident that I not only made a sound financial decision, but also made the most out of my 'virtual' reality. My advice: don't be afraid to ask. It's so easy to get dazed and confused in the torrent of technobabble in home entertainment technology, and to be honest you can save yourself a lot of time and internet download by asking these guys - they know their stuff, and that's what they're there for. It's also handy having this store in the CBD near where I work, although potentially problematic (ha!) - best range of CDs, DVDs and games out there without having to trawl the inter webs. Handy for that "I forgot to get Dad a father's day present" moment. And always at the best price... Why would you go anywhere else?
