Maintained by New Plymouth District Council, Kawaroa Park is a public park at the western end of New Plymouth's coastal walkway. Facilities include a car park, toilets, seating, tables and a fantastic kids playground featuring tube slides and tyre swings. Tisch Avenue runs through the park and is the home of the Kawaroa Park Squash Club and
Todd Energy Aquatic centre.
Busy with local families at the weekend, relax on one of the park benches with an ice cream on a sunny day and take in lovely views of the surrounding islands and the ships coming in and out of Port Taranaki.

Recreational Park
Kawaroa Playground always sparks memories of happiness from when I was a child. I went there on school trips, family outings, or even just to get an ice cream and have a play. Swing competitions were my favourite to see who could go the highest. Although since I was little, it’s had a few new improvements that have made it a lot better. They’ve added in a new slide in replacement of the old dangerous metal one. There’s also these poles you stand on that spin around and make you feel so dizzy you could be sick!
