Nestled in the small Northland town of Kawakawa this revived 1930's cinema functions as a creative-commercial space for theatre, art, entertainment, exhibitions, wananga and much more. Originally opened in 1936 this restored beauty is a window to New Zealand's past.
The venue has been used as a clothing store, a second hand mart and most recently a children's play area - and now a new owner and creative team are slowly bring the theatre back to its former glory and intended purpose.

Kings art gallery, as well as showcasing awesome local artists, has a school holiday programme for kids! They’re doing weaving, painting, sculpture and street art. All classes led by the community, for the community. It’s only $10 per student. This is an awesome institution and I highly recommend you get involved.
