I had driven past the cafe a number of times and had always wished I had time to stop in! I finally did last Friday for a quick work day lunch and I am so glad I did. I ordered a flat white and the Banh Mi with tofu and avocado. The coffee was delicious and the Banh Mi was so tasty, the bread soft and crunchy and the tofu cooked perfectly. It was so good, I went back there on Saturday with my Mum for more - don't even get me started on the gong sauce - made in house and you can buy it to take home too.
Hands down the absolute best cafe in Auckland and it's also my local !! Everything on the menu is exceptional, EVERY SINGLE TIME, a total sensory indulgence. There's no stock standard attempt to tart up the usual breakfast fare. I actually dream about L'Oeuf - tables laid out with their food all for me! Everyone I bring here falls in love with it. The service is super friendly and efficient, even when they are slammed. The coffee is reliably great, and love their iced coffee with vanilla bean syrup. So lucky to be in walking distance.
This is hands down my favourite place (and number one choice every time) to come for breakfast. With a knock-out menu to boot, they're off to a great start but also their service and staff are consistently on point. My favourites here are the mango lassi and 'the Cambodian' dish . Not to mention L'Oeuf is 100% instagrammable from every angle.
Tucked away in the sleepy back blocks of Mt Albert lies one of Auckland's best breakfast spots, no doubt in part because L'oeuf (meaning egg in French) truly lives up to serving some of the tastiest versions of its namesake. But it's not just the eggs that make this cafe a top spot, they do everything consistently well and I love the fact that you can buy a little bit of L'oeuf love to take home. Before a recent roadtrip, I purchased their house almond butter - a great and much healthier alternative to the more traditional peanut - and it was so good I scoffed most of it down the length of State Highway 1. And with 12 extra seats out front, there's even more reason to take your loved ones and enjoy an indulgent Sunday morning in the summer sunshine.
