Love the name, love the venue, love the cocktails ... and the food! Gosh, Libertine I love everything about you. The perfect place for a date-night drink and dinner in the winter and, in the summer, the sunny courtyard rocks. If you do one thing in Auckland, you should make your way here. On a Friday night, the tunes are pumping.
To ‘recommend’ dining at Libertine is not enough, just like paying your taxes, you simply must do it. We settled in to one of their cosy booths and kicked off with cocktails, mine a faithful-to-the-establishment ‘Libertino’ (ginger and chilli mojito)...one word: zing! Then the poached farm egg, polenta, shiitake, garlic shoot and smoked onion foam entree...one more word: tastebuds. But the star of the evening came in the form of the rotisserie beef eye fillet, with duck fat potato mash and red wine shallots, matched with the Heron’s Flight Sangiovese. Words: non-applicable! Top notch menu (full credit to head chef, Sean Marshall), smiley staff, and the music from the DJ booth topped off this stellar Friday.
