Mairangi Japanese Cuisine

Probably one of my top 3 favourite dishes at Mairangi. All of the Katsu choices. Trust me on this one, the crispiness is just perfect and the meat is tender enough you can experience a lovely bread-crumb battered meal. The reason why you hear the banging from the kitchen is from the tenderising of the katsu (all going to good cause of course!) Try the Chef’s Katsu Sauce, it helps shine the katsu to all its glory. To add, but by no means the least are Mairangi’s fine line of fancy sushi rolls. My personal favourite is between the Love Me Tender Roll and the Sunset Harbour Bridge Roll. I like how they incoporate a pinch of the kiwi culture to their dishes. Each piece sushi are truly portions of heaven. Mairangi Japanese Cuisine provide so many options and offer all sorts. Take your time enjoying some esquisite delicacies in a friendly, local environment. Finally, to borrow a phrase from Tom Hank’s Acadamy Award winning role as Forrest Gump, the katsu and sushi rolls go together like ‘peas and carrots.’ :)

Cute restaurant with lovely friendly staff! Food is very tasty n presentation is creative! I had the light option n it was more than enough, it’s definitely one of the best places I’ve been too! if you live on the shore try it out!

I had a really lovely evening at Mairangi Japanese Cuisine. Tucked away in Green Gables shopping centre, it's easy to be missed from the street but you definitely shouldn't miss out on it. We shared a Yu-Me Combo which had a bit of everything which was perfect for two. The "love me tender roll" was one of the best dishes they offer. Can't wait to go back again!
