Friendly service is the best - you feel like they remember you. Also, the lentil hot roll thing..best in Auckland.

If you're looking for an egg-free Anzac biscuit, Mamata Bakehouse in the West Lynn shops is the perfect place to stop, drop and eat a really, really good commemorative biscuit. I picked up a special pack of five cookies for just $7.50 - an awesome Anzac Day special.

Vegetarian pies can be a disappointing thing - soggy, liquidy and generally lacking oomph. This place does them well though, with perfectly baked pastries and interesting flavour combos that will keep smiles on the faces of even the non-veggies out there.

I love this place, and although I live out of town, I will make an effort to go there few times a month. The sandwiches are fresh and healthy and the coffeee always good.

If I need a quick bite Mamata is the place I head to for a lentil roll or cheesy vege pie. Both delicious and sustaining, I follow it with an organic coffee which they always make to perfection. For the sweet tooth the huge ginger and walnut cookies are out of this world!

I live about a five minute walk from the Mamata Bakehouse. I go there at about four thirty most afternoons because they put the days baking on special. The pies, bagels and bread generally have a dollar off them and the staff are always happy to get rid of them. If I’m lucky there’s a butter chicken pie left over, that little parcel of pastry is the bees knees.

Organic produce here. Great range of yummy pies, with lots of vege options too. Slices, quiche, pizza and freshly made bagels and rolls for sale in packs. Nice clean little place and good coffee too.

Ka Rawe Mamata - your consistently good coffee and divine food is one of the highlights of my week.

Amazing filled bagels, tasty pies, deliciously filled croissants, great service. Mamata bakehouse is a must when it comes to lunch. The Shoosh team regularly visit Mamata for our lunch fix of yummy goods.

I used to live down the road from this bakery and miss it sorely. If I am ever in the area I find a reason to stop, second breakfast, morning tea, early lunch, you know... there is always a reason! I particularly love their range of bagels and a seeded spelt loaf which is delicious and way nicer than other wheat free loaves. By the way, I am not gluten free or anything but if you are you should head here for your treats: the bakehouse focus on healthy tasty food and offer many a gluten-free, dairy-free type of item, that taste fantastic - something for everyone's needs I reckon. Added to that, Harvest wholefoods is next door! Quality food and at a fair price. Plenty of hot drinks available and as a tea lover myself, plenty of herbal tea options too.  There are always plenty of staff and service is quick, friendly and efficient. Pretty sure I saw some toys for the kids too on my last visit. Simple interior with plenty of tables and chairs, plus a few on the pavement if you want to bask in the sun. Focus is on food and drinks rather than on interior design though I'd say – plenty of edible yummy stuff on display to look at. As far as I am aware everything is baked and made on site. Free water provided and often leaflets on holistic treatments, community events and courses etc. are out on display. Free parking outside or on side streets. You could take a stroll to Grey Lynn park after your coffee to walk the dog too!
