This little known gem is such a treat. It used to be signposted and maintained by the council; now you'll only find it if you're in the know, so I'm here to share (thanks to my husband who visited as a boy). Note: take cups, and be prepared for some bushwhacking. Heading north out of Mangamuka, stop at the first vehicle bay on the left. It might take some poking around, but you will find an overgrown path down a steep bank, leading to a mostly washed out bridge. It's just shallow though, so crossing is easy. Head right and keep your eyes peeled. On the side of the stream you'll find a spring bubbling out of the ground with all natural soda water, said to have fantastic healing benefits. Good luck!
