Maranui Cafe is a popular, quirky 40's style café based in the Surf Lifesaving Club in Lyall Bay. Coupling beautiful food with amazing views over Lyall Bay, this is a cafe that tends to create a long but patient queue of customers waiting out the doors over the weekend.

One of the more popular cafés in Wellington, it's known for its well priced yet decent meals, the friendly staff, and the crazy hustle and bustle atmosphere and the retro décor. This is one that is sure to please.

Well worth a short trip out of the central city for these breakfast/brunch options, followed by a stroll along the beach. Their cupcakes are also excellent, and the staff are super friendly.

Every Tuesday Maranui Cafe offer a $16 big breakfast and coffee deal for tradesmen and tradeswomen. You'll be full and wide awake in no-time-flat! To boot, Maranui has some of the most amazing cafe views in Wellington.

While weekend mornings at Maranui aren't for the faint hearted or the impatient, stopping through for breakfast on a weekday morning is something else. The best cafe views in the capital, super nice staff, amazing food and instantly awakening coffee. I love stopping past here after flying back in the capital from a trip out of town.

My favourite café in Wellington and a killer spot for brunch. There's always a line leading down the stairs because it's so popular on the weekends, but a table is never more than a ten-fifteen wait. Super efficient staff and delicious brunches. Coffee is quick and the food takes a little longer because it's so popular. But just enjoy the views over Lyall Bay out the panorama windows - and on a windy day watch the kite-surfers get pummelled!

great food and vista

Waterfront location, cool decor

A nice spot to have a feed, generally there is a wait but the staff, food and view is amazing when you get the chance to sit down, I generally get the big breakfast with a milkshake. I like how the Kitchen is divided from the service counter by a a side of a ship.

Make amazing milkshakes and don't charge extra for soya milk.

The seats with the amazing view always seem to be taken when I go here - one day I'll get them.  The kitschy aesthetic and seriously serious breakfast options make for an enjoyable meal regardless of the view.  It is quite 'family-friendly' - not a place to go for a quiet read.
