Love the Hawke’s Bay Magpies who brought home the Ranfurly Shield again, taking it off the Counties-Manukau Steelers once more this year. Rugby fans are coming up for a treat with two ITM Cup home games to be played at McLean Park, Napier. Toughing it out for semi-final spots on Sunday September 14 will be Hawke’s Bay and Otago. The following weekend the stadium will take on gladiatorial proportions for the ‘Battle of the Bays’, between east coast cousins Hawke’s Bay and the Bay of Plenty. Go the Bay – Hawke’s Bay that is.

Rugby fever is rising in the Bay after the Magpies regained the Ranfurly Shield last weekend. Now that we have Richie and the All Blacks back in town after 18 years, for this weekend’s game against Argentina’s Los Pumas at McLean Park it’s threatening to go off the scale. Extra seats have been set up and the game has sold out so we’re expecting some of Hawke’s Bay’s hottest nightspots to go into overload on Saturday night as fans gather to watch on a big screen.
