The Hospice shops have had an over haul over the last few years, and are now very classy op shops (if they can still be called that!) It is an excellent cause, so fabulous that the money raised goes to a good cause. I hear that all the stores have window dresses, so you have to hope that they are volunteers, and that the Hospice money is not going to that! Also the clothing can be quite expensive, but a great cause!
When this shop first opened, we were like, Oh no, another classic part of Ponsonby has gone. You see, the Pots of Ponsonby Co-Operative used to be here for 27 years. So we did what most die-hard localists, out of some misguided sense of nostalgia and loyalty would do. We didn't go into the new shop for ages. Then one day, out of the corner of our eyes, we spotted something that looked great so wandered in. Boy are we glad we did. The selection of clothes and wares is amazing. Let's face it since Ponsonby has gentrified, the state and labels that are here are normally really expensive in their original shops but here, are cheap by comparison. The volunteers are also amazing and helpful. It helps that they actually want to be there. The latest campaign for the Hospice proves its versatility with the contemporary obsession of looking good and timeless values of compassion, hospitality and gratitude.
