There's a new menu at Mexico and so naturally when we had a friend visiting from Australia we decided to dive right in. There's so many fresh, delicious flavours, the girls and I ordered most of the menu so we could try each other's dishes and the stand-out for me had to be the cos salad. Half a cos heart, smothered in avo, spicy salsa and black beans and topped with an egg and some crispy bacon, it was a distinctly Mexican version of one of my salad faves - a Caesar. And a friend's eggplant speciality wis also definitely worth writing about. Luckily their incredible fried (free-range, of course!) chicken still has its rightful place on the menu and it was all washed down with a whole lotta jugs of their delectable and divine black plum margarita. Plus the Auckland Central joint has just been closed for a refurbishment and only re-opened again yesterday. The perfect time to go and celebrate three years of Mexico bringing the flavours of South America to the City of Sails.
You’re probably already in the know or have already had a good time at Mexico. Arguably the most popular kid on the Britomart block, this place churns out fresh and fun, traditional Mexican with an impressive beverage list to match, which also stays loyal to the theme. The menu items are ideal for sharing, adding a super fun side to your pre-show bite - don’t forget to ask about their specials, too! And if there’s 10 or more of you, you can book through their website, otherwise it’s first come, first served!
