Mixt is an intentionally kitschy gift shop that stocks awesome art/home decor/general knick knacks, created by Kiwi artists and crafters. There’s loads of rad art prints, wall-mountings (ducks in suits? Yes please), jewellery, handcrafted vases and ceramics, greeting cards, lamps, it goes on. I like to get my thank you or birthday cards from Mixt… a screen-printed, New Zealand-designed card feels a lot more personal than a mass-produced Hallmark. The pricing is reasonable considering that most items there are handcrafted and unique. The retro and art focus really appeals to me, and I often find myself popping in to browse when I was really just planning on walking to the dairy. There’s also a retro furniture shop next door, under the Mixt name, but I try to avoid going in as everything inside is fantastic and I can’t fit any more furniture in my house.

    This quirky and completely unique gift store in Kingsland has the 'it' factor .  You will find it really really hard to not walk out with something in a shopping bag   

      The variety and quirkiness of the MIXT stock is amazing. I never fail in giving the best gift when I buy from MIXT

        I Haven't bought anything from Mixt yet! - but I really enjoy their facebook page updates and  I am coveting loads of cool things. The staff are really welcoming and friendly, so it's nice to have a relaxed look around.

          This is just a great store with interesting, unique and quality products.  A must see in the Kingsland shops.

            I'm almost reluctant to talk this art, gift and retro furniture shop up, because it'll create more competition for its stuff, but it is genuinely great. They have a small, but ever-changing stock of stuff which is truly interesting, different yet strangely affordable. Not like some of their competitors in places like Ponsonby! And the guy who runs Mixt can always fill you in on the back story of anything you buy, where it's come from and why it's different. So you get an experience, not just some consumer goods. Highly recommended.  

              Was attracted to this shop when walkingpast and saw the awesome lampshades which they custom make for you in any material or size. Have a great range of quality nz made cool stuff and some really nice pieces of 2nd hand retro furniture at prices much better than you see on trademe. Great service too!

                This place has never let me down - I've bought presents here for my mother and my best friend. We've also bought most of our bedroom furniture here - retro mahogany bedside tables and an almost matching dresser.  The guy who runs it sources all the stuff including the ceramics and jewellery often from local designers. Love it.
