I frequently recommend friends to stay at the Mousetrap for its prime location and friendly, clean service. Kings Rd is the best place to stay if you're a backpacker as you can easily get amongst the party craziness or chill out at the gorgeous nearby beaches and cafes - you get the best of both worlds!

    There's certainly plenty to choose from in the way of backpackers rooms at Paihia, but the Mousetrap is a favourite for its friendly, cheerful atmosphere and sunny, elevated deck from which to enjoy those gorgeous sea views. It's also centrally located to the best nightlife north of Whangarei.
