Ninety Mile Beach stretches all the way from Ahipara to Scott Point. This spectacular beach is popular for its gorgeous views all around, and for having one of the best left hand surf breaks in the world.

The beach is officially a highway, so if you'd like to experience driving along this wide stretch of land, check out the coach tours from Kaitaia.

On the beach, there are plenty of activities to take part in from surfing, swimming and more. Have a go at body boarding down the sand dunes or try your hand at shell fish digging during low tide!

Torpedo fishing is great here - we get kingfisher, snapper and trevally.

It is a gorgeous spot for fishing, picnics, kite flying, beach walks etc. You can pick up some lovely driftwood there. Even on a wet day the scenery is so amazing .It's one heck of a beautiful place :)

Come and visit this magic slice of Northland. It's rare for you to find yourself on such a wide, long stretch of land, you can see far faaar into the distance. In the peak of summer you'll see mobs of kids mucking around in the surf and maybe even some locals taking their horses for a canter. Come in winter and you could be the only one on the beach. It's a special part of New Zealand - being able to visit somewhere so beautiful yet so remote.

One of the best road trips in New Zealand is to travel to the Far North in a 4 x 4 and hit the long, white stretch of sand that is the gorgeous (and ecologically superior) Ninety Mile Beach. In the height of summer, there's no need to even take a tent - just pack some good sleeping bags and a shovel (in case you need to dig your 4 x 4 out of any soft sand) and nestled in for two or three nights under the stars. This is one of the most magical parts of New Zealand and a great example of an awesome off-road adventure!

Rent a quad bike and go hard.

Ninety Mile Beach is one of New Zealand's most iconic beaches and once you've been there, you'll understand why. It's actually only 64 miles long but one of the few beaches in the world you can drive along, the view is just amazing on a sunny day. TIP: I did a bus tour and let someone else do the driving but if you are going to drive your own car, drive on the wet sand or you might get 'beached as'.

A great beach to have fun on. Whether it be driving your own 4*4 on the beach or hiring a quad bike to do donuts in the sand and speeding through the creeks.. There is even an ultra marathon in March for those that can run 60km. Kaitaia hospital is just down the road for those that get too dehydrated during the run and need a drip. Aye Matt.
