Technically this is classified as a park, even though it’s a beach, but it still counts! This has got to be one of, if not the best spot on the warmer days, especially when you’ve got kids visiting with you. Oakura is only a fifteen minute drive out of the West of New Plymouth from the CBD, so it’s very easy and convenient to get to. If your lucky you might catch the Movenpick ice cream cart around the beach, you won’t regret spend the extra money on a delicious ice cream!

    So many fond memories of camping here as a kid. Such an awesome campground with a community feel, gets amazing weather in the Summer, great local fish and chips and of course right near the awesome Oakura beach. Highly, highly recommend

      Oakura Beach Holiday Park was the place to go when I went camping. I had the sun, the sea, and the sand, that was what summers were all about back then. Now as I’m older I notice the great things about this place. Yes, it has a beach with a rusted shipwreck at the end of it which was amazing as a kid; but it even has a communal kitchen and the internet! So for people like me who work from home, this is a great destination to take your work with you while you relax.
