The enchanting garden out the back of Olive is the best place for an afternoon wine. When the sun shines through the trees and into the courtyard it truly is a special, warm, little place for a catch up with friends!

The vegan options at Olive are always creative, and delicious. Not to mention, the courtyard is perhaps the best Wellington has to offer, palm trees and all. From the coffee, to the bathrooms, Olive is a delicious experience.

Olive is very different day to night. That's not to say that either day, or night dining here is preferable. Either way, you're in for a real treat. Brunch, or lunch is to die for, particularly if you're lucky enough to be sitting in the stunning courtyard. Dinner is more formal, table service, and a decadent Mediterranean/european menu. Try the Duck or the Pear tarte tatin.

If the weathers good Olive is the place to be. The wait on food is never unreasonable, and you do get to sit in Wellington’s best outdoor area. It’s got excellent service, and the food is seasonal and on point, I’m yet to receive an over poached egg with my order at Olive. If the weather doesn’t allow seating outside, try get into the second room with banquette. I’m a fan of simple brunches so I usually get the eggs ‘your style’ on sourdough, though if you have a sweet craving the maple infused french toast with blueberry compote.

Olive is just up the road from Dukes, it boasts an impressive array of dining areas, with the best outdoor area in Wellington, full of greenery and charm. This is definitely a restaurant you can have long relaxing stay in. The lunch menu is a simple but delicious affair, with enough variety to suit everyone without overcomplicating any decision. Service here is as always superb, with friendly attentive staff ready to help. Go in and take one of the tables out the back, hide away from the world and all its distractions and you will not be disappointed.

#cafetab I love the place, the food, the coffee... But I will not share my best place with you there !!! ;-) PL

Olive's been around for a long time, but until fairly recently, it felt like it was resting on its laurels a bit. Sure, the food was good, the coffee well made, the location central... but you got the impression the staff knew it, too, and not in a good way. But all of that's changed since the restaurant got a snappy new makeover, and now the service is attentive and the menu's had an exciting refresh. Consider me back onboard with Olive.

Friendly staff, has internet
