The Papamoa Hills Regional Park was first opened to the public in 2004, with a focus on the rich, Maori cultural history.

The park is home to numerous archaeological and historical sites, giving you a chance to learn more while surrounded by nature's beauty.

Those who love long walks will love it here- the walking trails are the park's main feature. Go for a casual stroll through the luscious farmland and enjoy the coastal views all around in this unique gem of a park.

If you love tramping the hills ,Te Rae O Papamoa is a good place to be, with views to Papamoa below and out to the Pacific Ocean, and along the coast from Mount Manganui to Whakatane. There is 135ha of walking land and standing at the top you’ll be 224m above sea level. There are seven Maori Pa sites and pine forests, native bush and open farmland to explore. In addition to this main track, there are several other trails throughout the park where you can enjoy different views and explore the archeological treasures which lie here. Seven pa sites (where Papamoa’s original Maori inhabitants lived) can be found in these hills, and the terracing they create

A great place to get away from the city hustle and get amongst the outdoors, forest and farmland and ancient Maori Pa sites, just a few minutes south of Papamoa. Once you get over the steep climb up to the Trig Station you can take in the most awesome views out to the coast and across the Bay of Plenty.

Spectacular views, enjoy the rolling hills and farmland. Great exercise for the whole family!

Great views across the whole of Papamoa and on a clear day you can even see the mount. The walk up is pretty rugged but easy to find the track and you really feel like you have left the beach and town behind when you head up towards the summit. To get here head about 1 km past the Papamoa/Bell Road turn-off on the left, turn right into Poplar Lane. The car park access is on the right, before you reach the quarry gate.

My fave place to go to chillaxx

Down the road from the Mount Maunganui and before Te Puke are the Papamoa Hills, not as strenuous as the Mount Summit Track but a view just as good and a climb just as satisfying.
