Prices: Pool: FREE SPA & Sauna: $5 Cardio Room: $7 for a casual visit, or check out memberships at link below. The Cardio Room isn't a full gym, but it has the important stuff like cross-trainers, treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, swiss balls and some weights - just not the huge muscle-building contraptions. it's a great little space, with good people - no lycra-clad gym bunnies! Hours: Cardio Room: Mon/Wed/Thurs: 6am-8:45pm, Tues: 6am-7:45pm, Fri (& Public Holidays): 6am-6:45pm, Sat/Sun: 9am-6:45pm. Pool: Mon-Fri: 6am-6:45pm, Sat/Sun: 9am-6:45pm The Pool also has Ladies-only Sunday Nights from 7pm, but last I heard they were kindly requesting that the ladies wear clothes rather than our skimpy Western bathing suits, as they were targeting the Muslim market. Children are allowed too, but I don't know what the upper age limit is for boys. My only compaint is that it would be great if the pool kept longer hours in the evenings. Here's a better web link than the one above: http://www.manukauleisure.co.nz/papatoetoe-centennial-pools/
History was made in Papatoetoe pool when it hosted New Zealand's first ever Aqua Zumba Masterclass and what an amazing night it was. Whilst it was a private event the pool staff were on hand and excellent in organising the pool (it takes ages to remove all the lane ropes!) so that all we had to do was enjoy ourselves. Maria Teresa Stone was the star of the night and had us making waves in no time. Aqua Zumba is an excellent work out and something every one should try because you can have so much fun, it doesn't feel like a work out. You can try Aqua Zumba here, Wednesday morning 6.15am and Friday nights ladies only 7.00pm Give it a go you will have a splashing time.
I'm a real water babe and I love these pools, apart from the fact they are free, the environment is fun. It has both an indoor and huge outdoor pool (summer only), training pool, toddler pool, Spa and Sauna. The staff are all friendly and so are the swimmers, I've made some good friends here. Swimsation offer swimming lessons and there are lots of Aqua Classes to try including the latest Aqua Zumba, they are one of the first pools in Auckland to do. There's is small Cardio room which is great for a work out.
