Have recently taken the family to Paradice iceskating in Avondale. I found the staff generally freindly and willing to help. The family pass made the afternoon cost effective and enjoyable for all. I have been a while ago and what was not so nice was the fact you now have to hire the learner bars costing $5.50. This used to be free, they are a neccessity for children who have never tried ice skating. I think if you have a family pass it should include x1 bar between the family.
I used to ice skate a lot as a kid. One of the kids had his 10th bday and we chose to do ice skating and could not believe I could still do it after so many years. It was really fun and very kiddo friendly after lunch time. Kids love it and so am I!!! We are very happy the you guys are just in Avondale not very far from where we live!
I'd only been ice skating once before (in Napier) so jumped at the chance to get a 2-for-1 voucher off a voucher website which included entry and skate hire. It didn't take me long to find my feet and the walls around the side give you something to grab if you're falling over, you just have to mind the kids milling in the middle! Shortly before closing time the ice was cleared and there was a skating race for those who are slightly competitive. Had a great afternoon skating and would certainly recommend to those after something different to do for an afternoon.
I love to Ice skate and Paradise Skating in Avondale is fabulous. We have had really cool ( pardon the pun) birthday parties here too for the children. The skating session includes skates and lasts several hours. They have lessons, games like Ice Hockey and lots more. Both my children used to go to the Friday night Family time and they had a ball. Prizes could be won for difference races & tasks.. plus all the time skating to great music.
We used to go to Paradise all the time when I was a kid. Both for birthday parties and for their 'disco nights' where you felt like you were getting away from your parents and being a grown up. It's still lots of fun. You pay to enter for a session time and to hire the skates. Then off you go - wobbly onto the ice and trying not to fall over. It's lots of fun and a great way to have a laugh with your friends. Make sure you get the obligatory hot chips to keep warm.
