"do a roadie" park sleep staff head out monday to find the coldest

camper vans and motorhomes parked up in auckland during the rugby world cup 2012

place to park and sleep in the north island , got the heater on board and a pack of fire wood so if we stay at the Mangaweka camp ground we have a chance of staying warm and retain a determination to beat the cold by lighting a nice camp fire .

Please note we will not be going too close to Mount Tongariro in case it blows its top off volcanically and dramatically . Most likily destinations the Tararua Ranges stopping off on the way at the Rangteiki Hotel on the Napier Taupo Highway which  usually has a minus reading temperature reading in the morning another place will be the New Central Hotel Woodville  both places offer free over night parking for camper vans and motorhomes  .If you want a shower or a power connection there will be a charge naturally  .The Hotel in Woodville requires that the camper van or motorhome has a grey water storage certificate .So check in at the bar and support these two hosts . view www.park-sleep.co.nz The New Central Hotel has a great little kitchen and is a great place to meet locals .

Parking and sleeping in a modern camper van dosen't need to be cold and wet . So we are going to report back on this winter trip through the central north island may be next Friday . If things get bleak we will have to hold up at the New Central Hotel Woodville .Or the park lot near the Tui Brewery being careful to park on tar sealed areas and not get stuck in the mud .
